Lifecycle approach for numerical models of high performance computing

This work focuses on the development of a Life cycle approach for numerical models of high performance computing. This will be a theoretical concept to support a structured integration of the usage of numerical simulation of the high performance field into the product development process under consideration of the evolving numerical simulation technology. Therefore several level of the usage of numerical simulation in the high performance field must be examined, recommendations must be defined and a data structure for a lifecycle management system to support the recommendations must be developed. The management levels in the lifecycle management system will be:

  • Strategic planing of the usage of numerical simulation models of high performance computing.
  • Integration of the numerical Simulation of HPC on a Makrolevel.
  • Integration of the numerical Simulation of HPC on a Mesolevel.
  • Integration of the numerical Simulation of HPC on a Mikrolevel.

The department of Computer Integrated Design focuses on the development of a life cycle approach for numerical models of high performance computing (HPC). For this reason, the development and change process of numerical models with high complexity are examined.

There are two key issues in the focus of the research:
1. What are the requirements for integrating the management of numerical model data of HPC into a product life cycle?
2. What affect has the development of the high performance computer technology on the needs for management of numerical model data of HPC?
