Prof. Oskar von Stryk

The research group develops methods for modeling, simulation and optimization with dedicated applications in the fields of motor vehicle dynamics, robot dynamics, and recently also human body dynamics. The simulation and parameter optimization methods have been included in one of the nowadays most widely used real-time simulators for vehicle dynamics, road and driver models. Several methods for numerical optimal control and parameter estimation of nonlinear dynamic processes described by systems of ordinary differential equations have been developed. For example, the direct collocation method developed by the group is been used nowadays in more than eighty institutions from research and industry all over the world. Recent developments in optimization methods focus on robust simulation-based surrogate optimization methods and mixed-integer nonlinear optimal control methods. The group also researches in the areas of humanoid and bionic robots and teams of autonomous robots.
